Chelsea in Bloom, the world-class floral art show and London’s largest free flower festival, is delighted to announce its return for 2022 and is due to be the biggest yet – with an extended run, more participants and bigger installations than ever before. Inspired by the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, breathtaking floral displays are set to bring to life the 2022 theme of ‘British Icons’ across the Chelsea neighbourhood.

Produced by Cadogan, in association with the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS), the event extends the Chelsea Flower Show out into the local area. It is set to transform the streets of Chelsea from 23rd May, with this year’s floral displays inspired by the characters, symbols and emblems across the United Kingdom and bring London together in celebration for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee taking place the following week. ‘British Icons’ promises exciting floral installations encapsulating the UK’s exceptional talent and character from across the fields of fashion, art, design, music, food, sport, literature and more.

Over 90 participating shops, hotels and restaurants across the neighbourhood, from Sloane Street to the King’s Road, will decorate their stores or venues with floral art installations, each interpreting the theme to compete for the coveted award of ‘Best Floral Display’.

Large-scale central floral installations will spring to life around the neighbourhood nodding to this year’s overarching British Icons theme, including a 10ft floral Queen’s head on Sloane Square by florist Veevers Carter (alongside the Information Point, where complimentary rickshaw rides and walking tours can be booked); Royal coat of arms featuring an enormous lion and unicorn on Sloane Street and a handsome 12ft Queen’s Guard in his sentry box on Pavilion Road by designers All For Love London; Alice in Wonderland themed installations on Duke of York Square in partnership with Maison de Fleurs and a Vivienne Westwood inspired installation on the King’s Road created by florist Early Hours.

Throughout Chelsea in Bloom visitors will also be able to enjoy complimentary walking tours and rickshaw rides – to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee this year, and to coincide with the celebrations happening across the Royal Borough, Cadogan will be maintaining the central floral displays until the end of the Jubilee Weekend on Sunday 5th June. Passers-by will be able to post their well wishes to the Queen in suitably floral post-boxes near Sloane Square.

Gold, Silver, Bronze and Merit Awards will be awarded to participants by RHS judges alongside the duo behind the much loved Instagram account Pretty Little London, in addition to the top awards for ‘Best Floral Display’, ‘Highly Commended’ and ‘Innovation Award’, with winners announced on Wednesday 25th May.

Voting for ‘People’s Champion’ is decided by the public. Online voting will open on Monday 23rd and close at midnight on Thursday 26th, so get voting for your favourite!
